We have been breeding for increased milkiness (for our dairy and cheesemaking operation). Our ewes lamb
on pasture and are great moms. The lambs are vigorous and are up and nursing quickly. We have retained family
lines that are friendlier and easier to handle (they take to the milking parlor more easily). Good conformation
for milkiness and meatiness is another consideration in the breeding of our flock. We are also interested in quality
fleeces and are proud of our beautiful sheep of many colors and patterns.
We also have some East Freisain and Lacaune/Icelandic crosses. They are progeny of Jimmie Londagin's AI breeding
program - crossing these dairy sheep genetics to his milkiest Icelandic ewes. The program is young but they do seem
to produce more milk, while retaining the hardiness of the Icelandics.
We operate a seasonal, grass based dairy and maintain our ewes on grass only. They produce a rich and delicious
milk on this diet which, in turn, produces wonderful cheese.
All our sheep are OPP, SCRAPIE, Johnies, Brucellosis, TB and Foot-rot free.
